Save the Children is one of largest INGOs working across the globe in 120 countries on improving the lives of children. Save the Children has been implementing a large scale program for Ukrainian children and families inside Poland from the Warsaw country office and an area office in Krakow. Save the Children started its programs, funded by a variety of international donors, for Ukrainian children and families in February 2022.
Obowiązki
- Ensure regular review, revision and implementation of the Poland advocacy strategy
- Support Team in reaching key milestones by managing to advocate at the right decision-makers
- Liaise with key UN, NGO and other interlocutors
- Working closely with programs, provide analysis of how children have been affected by the crisis in Poland,
- Provide brief overviews to SMT and other stakeholders as requested on current Poland and sub-regional socio-economic context
- Define key advocacy opportunities and targets at national and regional levels
- Production of Advocacy Products
- Prepare high-quality briefings, letters and other written material for internal and external use
- Undertake and/or commission researches on specific issues to inform present and future advocacy choices and to build Save the Children’s position
- Produce policy briefing papers, policy position statements and public communication related to key advocacy issues
- Representation and coordination
- Support media strategy to make optimal use of national and international media to influence key advocacy targets and public opinion
- Undertake vigorous networking to continually inform, challenge, and improve advocacy messaging and tactics, investing in relationships and attending coordination meetings and forums
- Establish monitoring and evaluation processes of advocacy work
- Write on regular basis short stories illustrating the success of advocacy work
- Ensure the provision of high quality visual and print media materials to support campaign strategies and their implementation
- Media and Communications
- Maintain overall accountability for communications and media, support the Info and Communications Manager and team to effectively implement the communications and media strategy and deliver high quality media and communications products;
- Develop and manage dynamic social media for SCI Poland
- Create and come up with innovative ways of pitching SCI branding in Poland
- Support the development of a high profile for Save the Children’s Poland response through the production of high quality, well researched, and well written products
- Work with Regional Office and other Member Offices to identify potential media moments highlighting identified advocacy issues
- Facilitate media interviews with Poland Response Director or designate, undertake media interviews as needed and relevant
- Internal communications and information-sharing
- Provide a system of regular information dissemination support production of information documents and publications for the Poland Response team
- Oversee ability to scale up the delivery of robust communications material during emergencies
- Capacity Building
- Identify learning and training opportunities for Save the Children staff and partners
- Build the capacity of country programmes through delivering training of in-country communications or programme on information management and communication skills (including media training), mentoring communications staff throughout a response and recruiting/inducting new resources in-country as required.
- Manage Media, Communications and Advocacy team; define expectations, provide leadership and technical support as needed, and evaluate direct reports regularly.
- Facilitate the training and capacity building of other team members as spokespeople
- As a member of the Senior Management Team, contribute to:
- Support the development of an organisational culture that reflects the full programming spectrum (humanitarian and development)
- Help design and implement a coherent organizational structure that is consistent with agency practices and appropriate to country office needs.
- Ensure that all required support is provided promptly, during emergencies or times of humanitarian crisis.
- Develop risk mitigation management plans in response to SMT, regional office, centre (HQ),
- Ensure strong linkages between Advocacy, Communications and Media function and other Directors on the SMT
Wymagania
Essential:
- Prior management experience working with NGOs.
- Significant prior experience working in advocacy, communication and media.
- Experience of influencing and advocacy work including lobbying, policy development and information provision.
- Experience in influencing government, donors, and other organisations
- Experience in creating
- Demonstrable creative ability in accessing new opportunities, expertise and ideas
- Demonstrable track record of leading change which has led to significant results for the organisation and their stakeholders
- Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of different audiences including donors, journalists and the ‘general public’
- Experience delivering communications assets across multiple channels, including print, social, and digital
- Experience of being an effective spokesperson across a range of media
- Knowledge of children's rights key international agreements and conventions
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing and negotiation
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets
- Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
- Experience of building networks, resulting in securing significant new opportunities for the organisation
- Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in

Desirable:
- Experience working for a Polish NGO or for an International NGO
- Proven skills in media work, including interviews on Radio and TV.
